May 14, 2013RYAN RUTER LOOKS FORWARD TO $10,000-TO-WIN “BUSINESS TRIP” AT 141 SPEEDWAY CLASH @ CREEK V JUNE 26-27

(Francis Creek, WI) May 14 – Kanawha, Iowa’s Ryan Ruter says his visit to 141 Speedway June 26-27 will be just another “business trip.”

Ruter, who’s car number is 555, who has several $3,000 and $4,000 victories on the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS), was the first out-of-state entry last month for the $10,000-to-win Clash At The Creek V at the high-banked, third-mile clay oval.

The builder of Sidebiter chassis, Ruter has throttled his racing back a bit in 2013. “We’re just staying a bit closer to home this year is all,” said Ruter, who’s competed a half dozen times this year at Iowa tracks in Webster City, Algona, Mason City and Fairmont, Minnesota. “We’re doing mostly the IMCA style stuff this year. When you travel the fuel costs can be brutal.”

The last time Ruter was in northeast Wisconsin was the mid 2000’s when the USMTS still ran specials at Luxemburg Speedway and Thunder Hill Raceway. “What I remember about going up there is we loaded the hauler up with t shirts and after those two dates we sold out of all of them,” said Ruter. “I’m guessing we must have a lot of fans up there or something.”

Ruter has never been to 141 Speedway. “I did watch a couple of clips on Youtube that one of the Green Bay TV stations put on of 141,” said Ruter. “That place looks pretty cool. The clip I saw it slicked up pretty good. To me, the slicker the better. It takes the motor right out of the deal. It’s easier on equipment, too.”

Ruter comes from a farming family, but in recent years building and servicing Sidebiter chassis customers has put food on the table. “I help my Dad out once in awhile on the farm, but it’s pretty much racing full time,” said Ruter. “We’re either racing, building cars or fixing stuff. I’d like to get our name back up in Wisconsin. We need more of a presence up there.”

May 1, 20137-YEAR-OLD CANCER SURVIVOR REED LUEPKE NAMED HONORARY STARTER FOR SHAWANO SPEEDWAY BADGER MOD TOUR GO MAY 25

(Green Bay, WI) May 1– 7-year-old cancer survivor Reed Luepke of Bonduel has been named honorary starter for the Custom Windows Plus Badger Mod Tour presented by Gandrud Chevrolet event at Shawano Speedway May 25.

Reed, an avid race fan, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in 2009.  Reed has battled through several rounds of  brutal chemotherapy for three years and four months.  The 1st grader at St. Paul Lutheran in Bonduel has been in complete remission since the end of 2012.

“You hear cancer in a child you don’t know what the future is going to be,” said Reed’s Dad Brad Luepke.  “You trust your doctors and nurses that everything will work out ok. We’re all pumped up for the Badger Mod Tour coming to Shawano Speedway and there should be a ton of cars there.”

Reed recently got a jump start on a potential flagging career down the road, when he was throwing the silks at an open practice at nearby Seymour Speedway.  “It was pretty cool,” said Reed, who plays soccer and flag football when he’s not attending races.  His favorite BMT driver is Pulaski’s Brad Rohloff.

24 cars will start the 30 lap BMT main.  The Shawano Speedway highest modified points driver who doesn’t qualify into the A main through either passing points or the last chance race will earn the track’s provisional into the show, along with the BMT provisional from the 2012 final point standings.

April 18, 2013141 SPEEDWAY OPENER WASHED OUT

(PRACTICE TENTATIVELY PLANNED EITHER APRIL 20 OR 21)

(Francis Creek, WI) April 18 – A continued lack of cooperation from Mother Nature has forced 141 Speedway track officials to cancel their planned season opener for Saturday, April 20.  The opener, which was rained out for the second straight week was also supposed to be the lid lifter for the Custom Windows Plus Badger Mod Tour presented by Gandrud Chevrolet.

The BMT event will not be rescheduled, thus the BMT series opener will now be at Shawano Speedway Saturday May 25.  A field of close to 50 modifieds is expected for that event.

“Actually for the most part the track itself was in pretty good shape,” said track promoter Bruce Conard.  “We sheeps footed it and pounded it in hard Tuesday in the sun.  She’s a little soft on the bottom.  But with the projected cold temperatures, we decided to play it safe.”

The season opener will be Saturday night, April 27 beginning at 6 p.m.  It will be the first points night for the Mike Hansel Trucking IMCA modifieds, Brian Peterson Builders Grand Nationals, Tisler Salvage Street stocks, IMCA stock cars, Mike Hansel Trucking IMCA northern sportmods and sport fours.   The Green Bay Southwest LaCrosse club will be hosting the 50/50 raffle event.

The opener will also host the first “Big Cash Dash” qualifier for the mods.  The feature winner that night will be added to the field of the qualifying race Saturday, June 15.  The winner of that event will earn a provisional into the $10,000-to-win Clash at the Creek V June 26-27.  The event is the largest paying modified event in northeastern Wisconsin history.

A tentative practice session is slated for Saturday April 20 from 3 p.m. til dusk.  “We’ll see what the weather does Friday,” said Conard.  “If we don’t get a lot of rain we’ll be good for a practice.  If not, we’ll try for a Sunday practice.  We’ll keep everyone posted.”

For BMT drivers who had already pre-entered this event, their checks have been held and will be returned to them.  If a practice session is held drivers membership cards and contingency decal packets will be hand delivered to drivers.

Downloadable entry forms for the BMT are available at badgermodtour.com. You can also follow them on Facebook and Twitter.  Check 141speedway.com or call 920 863 3377.  You can also follow the track on both Facebook and Twitter.

April 8, 2013VETERAN MOD SHOES SCRIBNER, ZEITLER TO CHASE BMT TITLE IN 2013

(Green Bay, WI) April 8 – A pair of northeastern Wisconsin modified veterans are looking forward to chasing some new dirt tracks via the Badger Mod Tour in 2013.

Former Wisconsin IMCA modified state champion Eric “Scribby” Scribner of Kiel and Luxemburg’s Dave “Zeke” Zeitler of Luxemburg have announced their intentions to run the full BMT tour, which is tentatively scheduled to open at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek Saturday April 20 (weather permitting).

Scribner also was a co-track champion at Shawano Speedway with BMT driver  “Dancin’ Lance” Arneson in 2005 and track champion at Langlade County Speedway in 2006.  In 2007 Scribner chalked a total of 20 modified feature wins.  In 2013 he’ll wheel a Fire Up Fireworks sponsored Larry Shaw chassis.   “Everything on the car is brand new,” said Scribner.  “We’re starting fresh with everything from our engine builders, shocks, the whole deal.  I wasn’t in a position to chase the BMT in the first year but we’re going to chase the whole deal.  I know I’ve got it in me yet.  I was running a 2007 chassis last year.  This newer equipment should help.”

Scribner’s main sponsor Fire Up Fireworks is located in Crandon, not far from Eagle River Speedway, which will host a BMT event July 4.  “I’ve never even seen the place, but we’re looking forward to running up there.  I’ve got three wins at Big Beaver (Dodge County Fairgrounds) and I’ve run Wilmot too, so we’re looking forward to all the tracks on the Tour.”    In addition, Scribner says he’ll bounce around on Saturday nights between 141 Speedway in Francis Creek and Thunder Hill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay.

For Zeitler, a driver who raced late models at Luxemburg and Door County Speedway in the early 1980’s, a downsized pit crew are one of the deciding factors.  Zeitler’s always been a front running IMCA modified driver on Friday nights at Luxemburg,  a track he lives just minutes away from.

“It was nothing years ago to get 12 to 15 guys to help work on the car at the track and in the shop at any given time,” said Zeitler, who’s son Joey Zeitler serves as crew chief on his Teamsters Local 662 sponsored Slick chassis.  “It’s just hard getting a bunch of crew guys.  I’ve run weekly for a long time at Luxemburg, and I’m sure we’ll be at their opener.  We’ll bounce around a bit but the crew gets burnt out working on the car every week.  We’re looking forward to running some different tracks this year.”

During his career spanning three decades Zeitler has chalked up a total of 45 wins, with a bulk of them coming in the IMCA modified class, and others in the late model and old super stock class.  Zeitler even raced on the pavement on occasion at 141 Speedway in the mid 1980’s.

April 2, 2013FORMAT CHANGE FOR 141 SPEEDWAY/BADGER MOD TOUR OPENER

(WEATHER FORCES TWO DAY FORMAT TO ONE NIGHT APRIL 20)

(Francis Creek, WI) April 2 – A lack of cooperation from Mother Nature has forced 141 Speedway track officials to change their planned two day opener into a one day show on Saturday, April 20.  The show will be the opener for the Custom Windows Plus Badger Mod Tour presented by Gandrud Chevrolet.

A full BMT program will be run, along with the Mike Hansel Trucking IMCA northern sportmods, Tisler Salvage street stocks, IMCA stock cars, Brian Peterson Builders Grand Nationals and sport fours.  Racing gets underway at 3 p.m. on Saturday, with the pit area opening at 10 a.m.  The spectator gates open at 1 p.m.  The draw cutoff for drivers will be 2:30.  A planned practice (weather permitting) is slated to take place Friday April 19 from 5 p.m. til dusk.  A car and driver pit pass will be $20.00 while non-drivers will pay $10.00.

“The weather hasn’t been on anyone’s side lately and 141 has been no exception,” said track promoter Bruce Conard.  “Shawano Speedway has already announcing they won’t be racing that night but we still need some warm dry weather to help whip our track into shape as well.”

Last fall before the snow flew 141 staff reshaped the often challenging turns three and four, widening the corners.

The April 20 opener will be a non points show for the track, with the weekly points racing starting on Saturday, April 27.  Highlighting the season schedule will be the $10,000-to-win Clash at the Creek V.

April 2, 2013FORMAT/PAYOFF RELEASED FOR 141 SPEEDWAY CLASH @ CREEK V

(“BIG CASH DASH”, BMT “SIX-FOR-SIX” PROVISIONAL RACES ALSO SLATED)

(Francis Creek, WI) April 2 – The format and payout have been finalized for the $10,000-to-win Clash at the Creek V June 26-27 at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek.

The largest paying modified race in the history of northeastern Wisconsin will start 24 cars paying $700 to start the 50 lap A main.  In addition, a non-qualifiers feature, showcasing the top 20 in cumulative points from the two day show who did not qualify in, will also be run Thursday night.

The special event, which will be televised live on Sports Showdown My32, is expected to draw several out of state hotshoes.  The Iron Horse Recycling Badger Stock Tour presented by Kick Ass Drive Train and Iron Horse Recyling will run as a support class on Thursday night only.

After heats and B mains are run each night, an A main will be run with the top seven drivers being pulled each night and locking in to the big show Thursday night.  The next 8 positions will be the top 8 drivers in accumulated points from both days.  Position 23 will be the 141 Speedway track provisional, with position 24 the Badger Mod Tour provisional.

The 141 Speedway provisional will be chosen through the “Big Cash Dash” which will be run Saturday night June 15 at 141.  The winner of this race will be “locked in” to the $10,000-to-win show.  Drivers eligible to compete in this race include all the former modified track champions since the track was converted to dirt in 2010, including Luxemburg’s Jared Siefert (2010), Sobieski’s Sean Jerovetz (2011) and New Franken’s Shawn Kilgore (2012).

In addition, any driver who wins an IMCA modified or Badger Mod Tour A main at 141 in 2013 is eligible.  Any driver in the top ten in 141’s weekly points heading into June 15 who’s not already qualified into the “Big Cash Dash” is also eligible to compete.  If the races get rained out June 15, the “Big Cash Dash” will be run Saturday June 22.  If the driver who wins the “Big Cash Dash” already qualifies into the $10000 to win race without needing the provisional, the 2nd place finisher would be chosen, followed by the third place driver and on down the line.

The BMT “Six-for-six” Dash will be a six lap shootout amongst the 6 highest drivers in BMT points after the June 16 event at Wilmot Raceway.  The winner of that event will earn the 24th spot in the starting field of the $10,000-to-win event.  That “Six-for-six” dash will be run on Thursday.  If the winner of this dash already qualifies in without a provisional, the same procedures would be followed as for the 141 Speedway “Big Cash Dash” for selecting qualifiers.

You can check 141speedway.com and badgermodtour.com for more information on this event in the future, including a frequently updated entry list.  You can also follow this on both Facebook and Twitter.   You can call (920) 863 3377 for more information.

March 24, 2013141 SPEEDWAY/BADGER MOD TOUR PUSH OPENER BACK TO APRIL 19-20

(Francis Creek, WI) March 24 – Unseasonably cold weather coupled with a large amount of standing snow have forced officials to cancel the planned opening weekend of racing at 141 Speedway for April 12 and April 13.

The two day special, which was also the opener for the Custom Windows Plus Badger Mod Tour presented by Gandrud Chevrolet, will be pushed back to Friday April 19 and Saturday April 20.

This weather is a bitter irony from one year ago, when 141 hosted a practice session on March 17, 2012.  The temperature hit 81 degrees and 83 cars took part on practice day.  “We could use some help from Mother Nature before we’re able to think about opening,” said track promoter Bruce Conard.  “We need some consecutive days of decent weather so we can get out and begin working on the track.”

A full BMT program will be run Friday night, along with heat races in the Mike Hansel Trucking northern sportmods, Tisler Salvage street stocks, IMCA stock cars, Brian Peterson Builders Grand Nationals and sport fours.  A full Mike Hansel Trucking IMCA mod program will be run Saturday night, with B mains and A mains run in the other five classes.  Racing gets underway at 7 p.m. on Friday night.

The opening weekend two day blowout will be a non points show for the track, with the weekly points racing starting on Saturday, April 27.  Highlighting the season schedule will be the $10,000-to-win Clash at the Creek V.  Details on one of the highest paying modified events in Wisconsin history will be released within a few days.

Downloadable entry forms for the BMT are available at badgermodtour.com. You can also follow them on Facebook and Twitter.  Check 141speedway.com or call 920 863 3377.  You can also follow the track on both Facebook and Twitter.
